Review: Nars Liberte

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok :)
Sorry I've not posted in such a long time, I've been so busy with Christmas and Uni and just life in general to be honest! But I'm back now and thanks to Mr Student Loan I now own a laptop for the first time in my life. It feels so good to finally be in the 21st century haha, and it means that I can start blogging more regularly - wahoo!

Along with the very fancy laptop, I also treat myself to a few (cough) bits and pieces and even made my first ever Nars purchase! Ever since I saw Nars Orgasm I just knew I had to have it but I could never afford spending over £20 on blusher. But now that I'm a sloppy student, I thought why not! I also added Liberté to my little Nars collection, after hearing through the grapevine that it is Rihanna's go-to blush. I absolutely love Rihanna so it was a no brainer really. I kinda thought to myself, "hmm maybe if I wear this blush I will magically transform into her". You never know, miracles do happen lol.

Anyway,  I decided to put up a review for Liberté as there are already soooo many Nars Orgasm reviews out there. I'm kind of new to blusher as I naturally have quite rosy cheeks, and I only recently started wearing it after I fell in love with Benefit's Bella Bamba. I've gotten a little bored of it if I'm totally honest so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give something else a go. Here's what I thought...

Packaging
First off, I adoreeee the packaging! I'm a graphic design student and so this is kind of an important factor for me. I ordered this online and I can tell you that they went all out to protect the product. It was like a Russian Doll, a box in a box in a box - I was amazed! The product itself comes in a little pan, with a mirror so it is perfect for if you want to top-up on the go. The pan holds 4.8g of product, which technically means that with it currently retailing at £21.00, it is actually better value for money than the Benefit blushers if you are looking at how much you actually get for your money. (That is the only time in my life I will ever sound smart haha).

Colour, Texture & Scent

Liberté is such a beautiful colour . I'd probably describe it as a warm, terracotta colour with corally undertones. It's quite a dark shade and so is probably not great if you've got very fair skin. My skin is fairly tanned, with pinky undertones so I can just about pull this off but I think this shade is perfect for someone with more tanned skin (like Rihanna!). I think it looks create paired with a clear or fairly natural lip and subtle smokey eye as I have done further down.

Swatches (Left: With Flash, Right: Normal Lighting)

This blusher has a fairly chalky texture but is incredibly soft and feels really lightweight when on. I have very sensitive skin, especially in the areas where I apply blusher and I didn't break out at all with this. So that's always a winner in my eyes!

I'm so bad at describing smells, but I guess this has a sort of bitter smell. It reminds me of a permanent marker, without the weird high you get afterwards. Yeah, I'm gunna stop now because I have no idea what I'm saying haha.

Application & Staying Power

I used my beloved Real Techniques Blush Brush to apply this just above my (invisible) cheek bones and temples in the image below and as you can see it's given me a bit of a warm, natural glow. Liberté is fairly pigmented, it took a bit of effort to get the swatch to appear properly on my hand but using the blush brush when applying it to my face helped to pick up a lot of colour. It's smooth and soft texture meant it glided onto my skin really easily and was very easy to blend.

This has great staying power. I was worried with it being such a soft powder that it'd fade really quickly. It faded a little bit within the first 2 hours put after that it stayed put for about another 4 hours (I've tried to show this in the images below but it's a little hard to tell). So I guess I'd stay total wear time is around 6 hours - pretty decent!

Overall Rating

I'd probably give Liberté an 8 out of 10. It's an excellent product that is easy to apply, looks great when on and lasts for a long time. On the downside, it isn't accommodating to all skin types and is a bit pricey. If it's within your budget I'd definitely recommend this!
