Festive Nail Ideas

As we edge closer and closer to Christmas it's time to start thinking about the important details - like what to wear. Being the nail polish addict that I am, I've had a sift through my collection and come up with a few nail looks that will complete any outfit this Christmas. (warning: post is rather photo heavy).

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nail Polish in 193 Black Cherries

So the first shade I've picked out is an oldy but goldy and that is Rimmel Lasting Finish in Black Cherries. This is a dark, berry shade that's perfect for a sophisticated and classy look.

If Black Cherries is a bit too dark for your liking, then maybe No 7's Damson Dream will be more up your street. This is more of a deep, raspberry shade and has a slight metallic finish to it. I really like the brush for this is as it's quite wide and easy to use. You can wear this on it's own for a girly yet mature look or if you want to spruce things up a bit you can add a bit of glitter! I personally like to add a coat of MUA's Jellyfish over the top.

Revlon Nail Enamel in 761 Scandalous

Keeping with the theme of purple shades and glitter is my next polish. This is the Revlon Nail Enamel in the shade 761 Scandalous. It's a black polish with flecks of chunky, purple glitter and it's absolutely gorgeous. It takes a couple of coats to get the full affect but once it's on it looks fab.

Barry M Nail Paint in Pink Silver

Next we have a Barry M Nail Paint and this is in the shade Pink Silver. As the name would suggest this is a pinky, silver glitter polish. This would work great as an accent nail or even just on it's own.

Color Club 2013 Holographic Hues Nail Polish in Eternal Beauty

Here we have Colour Club's Eternal Beauty. This is part of their Holographic Halo Hues collection and it's probably one of my favourite nail polishes of all time. I can imagine Elsa from Frozen rocking this shade which, I admit, makes it even more appealing to me.

China Glaze Coconut Kiss

You may have gathered from this post that I like the colour purple so I had to sneak one last purple in here! This is Coconut Kiss by China Glaze and I love it. It's a blue-toned purple with a metallic finish. It looks so luxurious and is a nice alternative to the typical Christmas colours we see.

Kate Spade by Nails Inc Polish in Uptown Glamour

I featured this next polish in my November Favourites (read that post HERE) and I'm still loving it now. It's Kate Spade's Nails Inc polish in the shade Uptown Glamour. It really is gorgeous and is the perfect Christmas gold. A great, cheaper alternative to this shade would be Barry M's Gold Foil (shown below). It's more of a yellow-toned gold and applies slightly more streaky in comparison tonthe Nails Inc polish but it's still fabulous.

Another Barry M polish I've picked out is the Aqua Glitter nail paint. It's a gorgeous, teal glitter and perfect for this time of year. It takes about 3 or 4 coats to get the full affect but it also looks great as a sheer wash of sparkle. I also really like the Amethyst Glitter. It is made up of silver, pink, purple, blue and teal flecks. This isn't as opaque as the Aqua Glitter and again needs a good few coats. Alternatively, you could rock this as a top coat. I've applied this over Damson Dream which brings out the pinky flecks of glitter.

One of my favourite top coat's is OPI's The Man With the Golden Gun. This was part of their Skyfall range and it looks so glamorous. The bottle is metallic gold and it comes in it's own little box. The polish it's self is a clear nail varnish with REAL pieces of 18K gold - fancy huh?! This works well over pretty much anything. I've teamed it over the Black Cherries we saw earlier of if you really want to look chic try it over a black polish. I've used Maybelline Express Finish in Onyx Black.

For a toned down Christmas nail why not try Barry M's Blue Moon? This is a pastel blue and again I can imagine Elsa wearing this! If you really want to channel your inner ice queen you could add the White Frost Instant Nail Effects crackle (also from Barry M).

This post wouldn't be complete without a red polish so I've picked out Rimmel London's Double Decker red as it's such a classic, post box red. Perfect!
