Review: Canon Powershot A1400

Everyone say a big hello to my new baby! Yes that's right, I finally invested in a digital camera. I decided on the Canon Powershot A1400 which I snapped up for just £34.99 in the Argos sale! I'm super happy with it so far and wanted to review it for you guys.

The camera itself, has a matte exterior (kind of like NARS packaging haha) and it's really compact and portable. It's powered by AA batteries and doesn't come with a USB cable, adding to it's portability. I've seen a few people complain about the lack of USB cable but for me, it's not an issue. My laptop, like most nowadays, has an SD card slot and I enjoy being cable free. My issue lies with not having a chargeable battery as the battery life is rather poor, especially when using the flash. So far I've only used this camera for photography so I'm not sure how well it works for filming. It does film in HD but only up to 720p -sad face-

Cons aside, I actually love this camera. It's excellent if you're just looking for a simple but practical point and shoot. It's 16.0 megapixels and has 5x optical zoom, so the image quality is brilliant. I've taken some photographs below to show how this camera works in different lighting conditions. I've also shown how the quality changes when you zoom into things. (All photos are unedited).

Taken indoors using daylight
Taken indoors using artificial light
Taken indoors using flash
Zoomed in from about 1 metre away

Overall I'd definitely recommend this camera if you're just getting started with photography or want a basic camera for your blog. It's pretty simple to use, has lots of practical features (including a view finder!) and is budget friendly. I honestly don't know why I didn't buy it sooner. If you want to know more about this camera and all it's features click HERE
