Pixiwoo Course: Day 1

I can't believe my first day on the Pixiwoo Course is already over! It went by so quickly which is kind of worrying. In just a few days this whole experience will be over and well, it just doesn't bear thinking about.

I got off to a bit of a shaky start by getting lost and turning up late *facepalm*. When I eventually got to the studio I was greeted by the lovely Sam. It was so surreal meeting her for the first time! I guess when you're sat at home, watching these people on your computer you forget they're actually real.

The session started off with a quick chat, with everyone going round and introducing themselves. Sam, Nic and Stacey also told us a bit about their careers. Nic then moved onto a demo of a natural everyday make up look. She was really friendly and made us feel relaxed by answering all of our questions and talking us through all the steps.

We were then given our stations and partners so we could begin creating our own looks. I was paired up with Emily. I let her do my make up first and then I did hers. We were both finished by lunch as we worked so quickly! I'm going to try and work a bit slower and take my time over the next few days.
Here's the look I created. Even though it was natural I still went for a bit of shimmer on the eyes but kept everything else matte. Products used:

-Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Shades 5.5 and 5.25

-MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer Shades NC20 and NW20

-MAC Blot Pressed Powder in 'Medium'

-Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in 'Bikini-Tini'

-Zoeva Naturally Yours Palette (Shades 'Casual Elegance', 'Pure' and 'First Love)

-Ben Nye Pressed Colour Palette (Shades 'Taupe', 'Cork', 'Cobblestone' and 'Twilight Sable'

-Clarins Bronzing Duo in 01 Light (Only used the powder)

-YSL Flower Crush Palette in 'Rosy Blush'

-MAC 'Overload' Lipstick

Pixiwoo came and chatted to us as we worked, gave us a few tips and helped us out. Fun story: When Sam talked directly to me for the first time I was conveniently in the middle of choking. She had to run to get me some water lol! cringe, cringe, cringe. Honestly, sometimes I wonder how I'm allowed out of my house. Anyway...
After lunch we were told to add gel liner and a red lip to the looks we had created. Gel liner and red lips are two of the hardest things to perfect so Nic wants us to practice this as much as we can during the week. She also gave us another little demo - I think I'm going to record future demos so I can look back over the them.
Definitely need some more practice!
As I said the day just flew by and was over before I knew it. Tomorrow we are going to be doing bridal make up which is the part of the course I'm most looking forward to. Let's hope I don't do any more embarrassing things haha.

Ciao x

  1. Holy snaps though, it's one thing to meet Pixiwoon but ANOTHER TO BE TAUGHT BY THEM WHAT AN HONOUR. I think you're pretty brave for learning from them though--I'd be terrified of them! THOUGH, I AM FEELING SOME SECOND-HAND EMBARRASSMENT FOR YOU, heh.

    1. I was definitely nervous when I first arrived! But they are so chilled out and lovely, so I was soon feeling better. And loool I'm still cringing thinking about the choking incident. I'm such an awkward person sometimes :P
