Pixiwoo Course: Day 4

Today has been so much fun. I turned up to the studio today in a much better frame of mind and I was ready to really concentrate on the lesson and the make up look I created. Today we learned about period makeup. Sam talked us through the different eras (from 20's to 00's) in real depth, covering things like key looks and icons from each era. Nic was also doing a bit of demo alongside the talk that Sam gave. I found it so interesting learning about how make up has evolved over time and seeing how today's MUAs tweak and change elements from period make up.
Nic's Demo

Nic created a 20's inspired look on Stacey but gave it a modern twist. She kept the really dark, expressive eyes and doll-like lip but introduced a shot of colour through the eyes and a highlight to Stacey's cheekbones. I've loved seeing how Sam and Nic work over the past four days - they are true artists.

After the demo/talk we had the chance to flick through some books and think about the looks we wanted to create. I immediately decided on the Dollybird look from the 60's; it's one of my all time favourite looks. It also had quite "simple" elements which, after yesterdays blip, seemed like a good way to go.

I paired up with Holly again as I thought her eyes would be perfect for this look. I felt way more confident with this task than I did with the drag make up. Stacey also talked me through brushes before I began which really helped me. I love the look I've created and think it looks fab on Holly.

How was it?? What are Sam and Nic like? Who's your favourite? Your look is GREAT.
I'm very excited for you-- can you tell? lol

    1. Haha! Aw thanks Tash. Sam and Nic are amazing, I thought they would be quite reserved but they're really not. They're so friendly and helpful. I love them both but I think my fave is Nic lol. She's really funny and she gave me some really good encouragement on the last day.

I've actually been missing the course like mad lately :( wish I could go back and do it all again, itching to start doing make up as a career now x
