This week I went to see The Lion King at the Sunderland
Empire, for my Nana’s birthday. Despite having quite literal vertigo
from our seats (I’m not kidding) we all had an amazing time and I was totally
blown away by the whole production. Everything from the African soundtrack (I really loved ‘He
Lives In You’) to the beautifully designed, set, costumes and make up were phenomenal.
Even though the story stayed true to the film, all of these elements made it
feel like a whole new experience.
The puppeteers and actors really brought the show to life.
Stand out performances for me were Rafiki, Scar and little Nala – she was both
adorable and an amazingly talented singer. Even though she was only an extra, I also thought
the woman who played the leopard was incredible too!
I would definitely recommend that you go see this musical if
you get the chance. I’m even thinking of getting tickets to the London show for
my birthday!
I'm so jealous, I missed the Lion King when it was in Liverpool but I really hope that I catch it in the future.

Aw such a shame! It really is a fab production. Maybe follow them on Twitter (@TheLionKing) so you can keep up with their tour dates? :) x
