2014 Beauty Favourites

It wouldn't be right to let 2014 go without looking back at a few beauty favourites. Most bloggers tend to struggle with picking their absolute faves of the year but for me they were all no brainers. It was the year that I discovered what products worked for me and I damn well stuck to them. I will try to shake it up a little this year but for now, here's what I've been loving...

L'OREAL TRUE MATCH FOUNDATION
I recently tried a few high end foundations but after a few disappointing weeks and a face full of spots later, I came crawling back to my trusty True Match. This is flawless skin in a bottle. It never makes my skin look orange, rarely looks cakey and is the perfect coverage for me. Nothing compares to it and at £9.99 I would argue that every girl needs this in their collection. I'm sorry I ever doubted you True Match!

MAYBELLINE FIT ME CONCEALER

For a drugstore concealer this is pretty darn good, and so far the best I've tried. As you can see it's definitely my most worn concealer of 2014 but the search for my HG concealer still continues...

MAC ANGEL LIPSTICK
How many times can I talk about this lipstick? Jeez, even I'm sick of me harping on about it but it's just so beautiful! It's become my signature shade and the one I reach for whenever I'm in doubt.

MAYBELLINE COLORSENSATIONAL LIPSTICK IN 'HONEY BEIGE'

Throughout the beginning of the year, I also fell in love with Honey Beige. I even chose it over Angel on a few occasions! It's a warm-toned nude and has a gorgeous, creamy formula. I have fallen out of love with it in recent months but I will never forget our magical time together.

MAYBELLINE 'THE FALSIES' MASCARA

When I ran out of my HG mascara (UD's Big Fatty) at the beginning of 2014, I decided to get Maybelline Falsies as a quick replacement. I ended up using it for the rest of the year and have not even had to repurchase it - talk about long lasting! As far as drugstore mascaras go, this is pretty bad ass and gives your lashes the added length/volume that they need. It hasn't knocked Big Fatty off the top spot but it definitely takes second place.

MAC GINGERLY BLUSH

I've found myself reaching for MAC's gingerly blush so much this year. It adds a beautiful, warm glow to almost any look and is simply stunning. It's matte, so isn't overpowering and doesn't interfere with the rest of your make up. If bronzer and blush had a baby it would be Gingerly.

YES TO TOMATOES CLEANSER & OILATUM NATURAL REPAIR CREAM

I'm going to be doing a blog post on these two products soon, so I won't say too much here but the fact that they made into my yearly faves probably says a lot already...

CALVIN KLEIN SUMMER AFFAIR BRONZER IN 'SUN DRENCHED'

This was the first bronzer I ever bought but I just forgot about it. I found it hidden in my stash when I moved house and fell in love with it all over again. It's the perfect matte bronzer as it's super pigmented and really warms up the face. I've just hit pan on it and will be so sad when it's all gone! If anyone can tell me where I can get this again, I'd be super grateful.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS EYESHADOW IN 'SIENNA'

I'm just going to say it - ABH eyeshadows are the best eyeshadows on the market right now. Norvina (Anastasia's daughter) spent ages developing them and boy has she done an amazing job. Sienna is my absolute favourite shade and looks stunning as an all over lid colour - I get compliments whenever I wear it! [See it in action HERE]. ABH recently launched 84 single eyeshadows and it's taking me a lot of self control to not buy them all haha.

That's all for my 2014 favourites! Let me know some of your favourites in the comments

Ciao x

    1. Falsies is definitely a big hit with bloggers and rightly so! I've not tried the cucumber one but I've heard great things about it :) x

  3. L'oreal's True Match was the first ever foundation that I bought...back when I was 16, L O L. I don't have particularly fond memories of it, but then again, I was a makeup n00b back then, so I might not have applied it properly. (I had foundation flashback, and it transferred onto a guy friend's shirt)

Also, damn, there's a lot of Maybellline products in here ;)

    1. Funny you should say that! When I first got it I hated it. I was applying it with a RT expert face brush and it was just rolling off the skin. Went back to it and used a sponge and fell in love. What a difference using the right tool makes!

Welcome back to the blogosphere btw! :) x
