Grown Up's Colouring Club
@ Make & The Craft Kitchen

It seems I am falling in love with Portsmouth one quirky cafe at a time. The latest subject of my affections is Make and The Craft Kitchen in Fratton.

It's an adorable craft shop and cafe ran by the lovely Nikki and Hesta, where you can bring your latest project, or attend a workshop and just hang out with fellow crafters. I popped along to their grown-ups colouring club on Tuesday - after a hectic few weeks of exams, work and moving house I thought it'd be a great way to relax for a couple of hours. I arrived a few minutes before the session started to get some photos and I honestly could've spent the whole session doing so.
It's filled to the brim with amazing wall art, hanging pom poms, pastel potted succulents and handmade decor. There's a mezzanine floor that looks over the whole of the cafe and shop, which was fab for getting photos.
The colouring club cost £5 to attend, which included a beverage and snack of our choice. I went for the most DELICIOUS homemade, chocolate cookie I have ever tasted before settling down for some colouring! Hesta and had printed out lots of beautiful illustrations for us to tackle, and Roma (who helped run the session) even printed a few of her own illustrations!
I picked one that said 'Today Is Going To Be Awesome' because I thought it'd be fab to hang on my wall once finished. The session flew by and I can't tell you how therapeutic it was just to spend a few hours, where the hardest decision I had to make was what colours I was going to use (which, let's be fair, wasn't that hard for me - I obviously went for every shade of purple possible).

I didn't get to finish my picture but I met some lovely ladies and will be sure to pop back for future sessions. Hester and Roma have even ordered some colouring books and are thinking of stocking some specialist art pens for us to use, so we can add some shading and highlighting to our pictures- ooo who knew you could be so excited about pens and colouring?
Have you had a go at grown-up colouring?

    1. It really is lovely and it's great to actually get out of the house and do crafts - crafting can be quite a lonely hobby sometimes so it's fab to make it more of a social thing!
