Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire Make Up Look

Can you believe there's only two days to Christmas!? 2! I don't know where this month has gone - in fact I don't even know where this year has gone! With just two days to go I thought it was about time I thought about a make up look for the day. I've been loving deep smokey eyes and red lips so came up with this look. The eyes are inspired by chestnuts roasting on an open fire and look fab paired with my navy, gingerbread Christmas jumper!

Here's what I did...

Eyes
I always do my eyes first, especially when using dark shadows as it's easier to clean up any fall out.

  • First I primed using Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • I then used a RT Setting Brush and swiped Rimmel Stay Matte powder over the lid. This gives the shadows more intensity and longevity
  • On a Sigma E40 I applied my transition shade ABH 'Orange Soda' through the crease
  • Then using a flat shader brush, I packed 'Icon' from the Lime Crime Venus palette on my lid, building the colour
  • On a Sigma E25 I used 'Sienna' by ABH and 'Creation' from the Venus palette to blend the edges of 'Icon'
  • Throughout this look I continued to pack more of the 'Icon' to build the intensity and longevity of it
  • Using a Nashly Blending brush I applied 'Muse' on the outer "V" and half of my crease, to warm up the look a bit
  • I went back and forth quite a bit blending Creation, Sienna and Muse to get a nicely blended finish
  • Next, on an angled brush I used 'Backdoor' from the UD Smoked palette to draw a V on the outer half of the eye to create a slight cat eye effect
  • I used the angled brush to softly blend the edges, dragging the Backdoor shade into Icon
  • On a pencil brush, I took Blackout from the UD palette and applied it on the very outer corner to intensify the look
  • For my inner corner highlight I used 'Aura' from the Venus palette
  • Next I created a cat eye using my trust Poundland Eyeliner and applied two coats of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
  • Finally for the eyes, I used 'Freestyle' from the Smoked Palette and the Sigma E40 to blend the edges and neaten up the whole look

Face
I've been really happy with my foundation routine lately and find that I get quite a flawless base, if I do say so myself.

  • First I apply my Bare Minerals Brightening Prime Time with my hands. I find that wiping the product across the face, instead of rubbing it, makes my foundation last longer and look smoother
  • With a RT Buffing Brush, I applied my Nars Sheer Glow foundation (I'm the shade 'Punjab'). I don't use too much foundation and make sure to buff it into the skin for a more natural finish
  • To combat my dark circles I applied Seventeen Phwoarr Paint under my eyes
  • I then like to leave the skin to settle and move onto brows
  • I'm not great at brows but I currently fill them in with MAC 'Spiked' eyebrow pencil and set them with Maybelline Brow Mascara in 'Dark Brown'
  • Once the skin had settled, I set it with Bourjois Poudre De Riz Java and the RT Powder Brush
  • With an RT setting brush, I applied more of the powder to my under eyes to set the concealer
  • Next I used the Calvin Klein Sun Drenched Bronzer in 'Summer Affair' and a Sigma F40, to define my *non existent* cheek bones and to add dimension to my face
  • For blush I used MAC Gingerly which is my favourite Autumn/Winter blush of all time
  • I used the RT Powder Brush (without any product on it) to blend any harsh lines with the blush and bronzer
  • Finally with a setting brush I applied highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones. I've been using the highlighter from my Sleek Contour Kit and I love it!

Lips
The lips are my favourite part of the look! I lined with Jordana Easy Liner in 'Coco Loco' and then applied my favourite lipstick right now,  Wet 'N' Wild Mega Last Matte Lip Cover in 'Cinnamon Spice'.
